Companies and professionals that carry out their activities in Spain and manage personal data are required to comply with the formal requisites and security measures established by the current legislation.

Any information that enables personal identification is considered personal data. This includes names, ID numbers or the IP addresses or healthcare data included on the payroll file.

The current legislation regarding data protection includes the Spanish Organic Law 15/1999, of December 13th, on Personal Data Protection, and Royal Decree 1720/2007, of 21st December,  by which the regulations to develop the aforementioned Organic Law were approved. These regulations are based on the European Directive 45/96/CE.

Compliance with these rules is obligatory for all companies. Not only because the rule provides sanctions of up to six hundred thousand Euros (EUR €600.000) for infractions, but also because it helps us to protect the most important assets of any company: our customers’ data.

The duties established by law include the registration of the names and features of the files at our company containing personal data, the implementation of certain security measures, the drafting of a security document where the personal data treatment policy is detailed and biannual audits in specific cases.
