For a startup with global ambition, growth does not stop at national borders. Internationalization requires an interconnected legal network that understands that business expansion, privacy, and technology go hand in hand. With this goal in mind, Metricson participated last May in the annual meeting of our international network Firm Friends in Milan, a strategic space designed to consolidate cross-border corporate solutions and anticipate the regulatory impact in our clients’ key markets.
What did we discuss in this 2026 edition?
Cross-border strength in Corporate and M&A
The international expansion of a scale-up requires flexible corporate structures and impeccable post-investment planning. During the sessions in Milan, coordinated by the host firm IPG Law Firm, we aligned due diligence criteria and the design of multi-jurisdictional investment rounds. In the current ecosystem, international investors are no longer just looking for a scalable product; they demand that the parent company and its subsidiaries operate under a unified legal contingency framework that facilitates future exits or acquisitions without territorial friction.
AI governance as a business asset
The practical deployment of Artificial Intelligence was the focus of much of the technical debate. Far from theoretical approaches, we addressed how the integration of automated tools affects companies’ intellectual property and the value of their intangible assets. Solid AI governance is not a bureaucratic hurdle, but an essential competitive advantage to raise capital: venture capital funds actively penalize companies that cannot trace the origin of their training data or the ownership of the algorithms developed.
Cybersecurity and privacy: a global corporate approach
Digital security is no longer strictly an IT issue, but has become a corporate governance priority. At the roundtables, we analyzed the mitigation of technological risks and data protection in internationally shared cloud environments. Protecting strategic information against global incidents not only avoids severe financial penalties, but also shields the business’s reputation and ensures business continuity during critical scaling phases.
The meeting concluded with a working dinner on Milan’s historic trams, an ideal setting to strengthen ties with the international partners who support our clients abroad.
Thank you IPG Law Firm for being a magnificent host and to the rest of the network’s firms for making this annual meeting a luxury that combines technical level with a practical vision of international business. We return with even stronger alliances to continue accompanying our clients in their global expansion, and we are really looking forward to the next meeting. See you in 2027!
