A few days ago, we had the pleasure of attending the annual meeting of our international law firm network, Firm Friends, held this time in Lisbon on June 5th and 6th.
After hosting the event in Barcelona last year, this time it was Pares Advogados who welcomed us generously, providing the perfect setting to strengthen our bonds and discuss the future role of lawyers in the coming years.
We took the opportunity to reconnect, catch up both professionally and personally, share ideas and best practices, and deepen our alliance, which has become a key component of our growth and internationalization strategies.
What did we learn from these days? One of the most relevant topics was the role of Artificial Intelligence in the legal sector, with a very insightful presentation by Pedro Vidigal and Carlos Juzgarte Rolo, experts in the field, which covered:
The evolution of Large Language Models (LLMs)
Practical applications in law firms: from document generation to legal analysis and tools that automate complex processes
Key risks: model biases, data privacy, explainability, and regulatory frameworks. It was particularly interesting to examine the evolution of this technology within the framework of the European Regulation
Emerging tools: intelligent agents, prompt engineering, and techniques such as RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
The impact on professional culture: loss of traditional training, overreliance on AI, and how to mitigate errors (hallucinations)
Many thanks to Pares Advogados (Portugal) for organizing the event, and to the rest of the firms for such a pleasant and productive time together: Sheil Kinnear (Ireland), GTKP (Germany), Njord Law Firm (Denmark), Oury Clark (UK), IPG Lex (Italy), CGC Tax (México), TEKZ Belastingadviseurs (Netherlands) y Salann Tax (Australia).
Obrigado, and see you at the next gathering
